International Credit Union Day: Thursday, October 18
Since the United Nations announced that Co-operative Enterprises Build a Better World would be the theme of the International Year of Co-operatives, it has appeared on countless banners, buttons, T-shirts and posters, including the poster for Co-op Week 2011.
But did you ever wonder why co-operative enterprises build a better world? In honour of the International Year, Co-op Week 2012 will use the same theme as it used in 2011, but will focus on the actual reasons why co-ops and credit unions make communities, Canada and the world as a whole a better place.
Inspired by the popular U.S. co-operative movement poster "10 Reasons Co-ops Rock", this year's Co-op Week poster and leaflet will use artistic typography to explain the meaning behind the IYC slogan. And given that it's 2012, we couldn't stop with 10 reasons...so we have 12 reasons why co-operative enterprises build a better world!
There are three versions of the poster: 12 reasons why co-operative enterprises build a better world, 12 bonnes raisons pourquoi les coopératives aident à bâtir un monde meilleur, and 12 reasons why credit unions build a better world, created in collaboration with Credit Union Central of Canada.
