Co-operatives and credit unions around the world can now differentiate themselves on the web. With .coop, you will be able to tell their customers, in just four letters, that they are not just another .com, .net, or .org. Your business is about people, not about profits.
You will need a credit card to purchase the names you wish to buy. Each name costs US$120 per year, with a minimum two-year registration.
You'll be asked to provide contact information and indicate two organizations which can verify your co-op status. Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) members should make sure their members know to select CCA on the pull-down menu of sponsors and enter information about a second co-op or credit union, such as their federation or Central, on the next screen. The dotCoop Operations Center (the organization charged with managing domain name assignment) will work with CCA to verify the co-operative status of registrants whose co-ops belong to CCA member organizations. The Conseil canadien de la coopération et de la mutualité (CCCM)is the verification partner for francophone Canadian co-operatives. The names selected will be held for you until verification is complete, generally within a few days.
