Profile
REACH is a newly formed fee-for-service consultancy and training arm of the Canadian Co-operative Association. Over its 100 year history, CCA has built up a reputation for excellence in research, co-operative development, co-operative governance, education, training and project management amongst a range of partner organizations including its own co-operative and credit union members, universities and government departments in Canada and globally as well as grassroots based community and co-operative development organizations.
Our Approach
Based on CCA's longstanding experience of working on international and Canadian projects and program, REACH has inherited a strong track record in implementing, delivering and managing projects on behalf of a range of public and private sector clients.
Our approach to working with client organizations ensures that our processes are:
Innovative and tailored: We work with clients to determine the key questions that need to be answered and, using our knowledge and experience with various innovative methodologies, work with them to design a process tailored to the needs of the client and participating groups. The development and implementation of projects and programs do not comprise 'off-the-shelf' approaches but require an understanding of the principles and values of co-operation alongside the needs of CCA's members or the client organizations we serve.
Global and national networks: The co-operative community in Canada and around the world is vibrant, dynamic and operating successfully in all sectors of the economy and society. CCA as a national association for co-ops in Canada has a unique perspective on the co-operative community - we are able to understand grassroots issues in terms of the application of the co-operative model in communities through to the ramifications at a policy level and be able to draw upon its vast network of contacts in Canada and around the world to gain insights into the latest thinking and best practices.
Focused and clear: We work with clients to help clarify key objectives and issues. At all stages of the process, we use focused questions to facilitate on-topic engagement. In projects with multiple objectives we ensure focused and clear questions to help ensure consistency of process and thus comparability of results.
Context sensitive: As the national association for an organizational model that serves over 17 million Canadians, we acknowledge and respect the need to be context sensitive and meeting the needs of stakeholders. We understand the needs of different stakeholder groups within a project framework - whether it is the community, business or government, we ensure that their interests are understood and fit within the framework of the overall project objectives. Through consistent dialogue and regular reporting, we are able to understand evolving needs and ensure that are incorporated into the future direction of a project.
Community-based: As an apex organization, CCA engages in systemic analysis and works from a broad perspective. At the same time we recognize the essential contribution of "co-ops on the ground' and seek to ensure the vitality of small, primary organizations as well as large organizations on a provincial or national level.
Broadly inclusive: We are able to draw upon skills and experience from a broad range of co-operative developers, co-operative technical experts, academics, co-op sector federations and provincial co-operative associations from different parts of the country who are co-op proponents working on a variety of development projects and would be able to work effectively with our client organizations. |
