Core services

Building upon this experience and reputation, REACH focuses its core fee-for-service activities and programs in the areas of research; governance education and training; and program management.

Research

REACH is building its reputation as a 'think-and-do' tank for the co-operative movement in Canada with a blend of project management skills, in-house knowledge and skills alongside the practical realities of delivering projects on behalf of public sector bodies and private sector organizations.

REACH partners on research and development projects across a range of disciplines and topic areas from policy development and analysis to the practical application of tools and resources to grow new or emerging groups.  Others research areas include consolidation; capitalization; governance; board performance; and branding.

REACH is the central point of contact when considering research needs across federal government departments; community-university partnerships or tailored research projects for your organization.

Governance education and training

CCA has built up a reputation amongst its members and partner organisations within the co-operative movement for providing content-rich materials relating to corporate and co-operative governance.  It has consistently raised the bar in terms of the system's understanding and knowledge of the latest thinking and activities relating to governance and the role of the board and directors.

REACH is creating opportunities to develop the content and framework for specialised and customised director training programs for non-financial co-operatives either by specific sector or individual organizations.  The partnership with Gay Lea Foods Co-operative is the first opportunity being explored.

In addition REACH is partnering with content specialists to develop governance programs and tools which address the increasingly complex governance demands placed on boards, directors and the staff responsible for governance.

Other fee-for-service activities, program or projects that REACH undertakes in this field include:
  • Canadian and global study visits and partnership exchanges
  • Board succession planning
  • Training programs for mid-to-senior level managers new to the co-operative and credit union system
  • Other bespoke governance training and education provided through the REACH network of content experts and specialists
Program Management

As a national apex body for the co-operative movement in Canada, CCA has the opportunity to be at the centre of co-operative development in new sectors or areas of activity on behalf of its members.
