IYC launched across Canada!
Thousands of co-operators across Canada celebrated the launch of the International Year of Co-operatives on January 12 with events all over the country, a live webcast from Ottawa and a very successful Twitter campaign. CLICK HERE for a story about the launch in the Co-operative News.

The Canadian Co-operative Association provides leadership to promote, develop and unite co-operatives and credit unions for the benefit of people in Canada and around the world. Our members come from many sectors of the economy, including finance, insurance, agri-food and supply, wholesale and retail, housing, health, and the service sector.

Prime Minister brings greetings to IYC launch

Prime Minister Stephen Harper added his voice to the thousands of Canadians who participated in the January 12 Canadian launch of the International Year of Co-operatives. In a message that was read out during the live webcast, the Prime Minister said that "the existence of co-operatives across all sectors of the economy speaks to the influence and relevance of the co-operative movement". Denyse Guy appointed executive director of CCA

Denyse Guy, executive director of the Ontario Co-operative Association since 2001, has been appointed executive director of CCA, effective January 2, 2012. The announcement was made on November 9 by Claude Gauthier, CCA president. Click the Read More link for more information.

Co-operative enterprises build better communities!

Just in time for the Canadian launch of the International Year of Co-operatives, the Ontario Co-operative Association has erected some 40 billboards across the province promoting co-ops. This one is located on St. Laurent Boulevard in Ottawa, a major commercial thoroughfare in the east end of the city.

CCA Volunteer Coordinator profiled in alumni magazine

Sarah Feldberg, who coordinates coaching missions and other volunteer activities for CCA's International Development program, was the subject of a profile in the Winter 2012 issue of the Bishop's University alumni magazine.
